Originally known as Herring Cove, Brooklyn’s first industry was an inshore fishery established under the charter of the Dutch West India Company in the 1600’s. It was here that one of the most famous privateering ships, The Rover, was constructed in 1799-1800. This brig fought several bold battles in the Napoleonic Wars, her most famous being one off the coast of South America with the Spanish naval schooner, Santa Rita and three accompanying gun boats.

In more recent times, Brooklyn was the birthplace of country music legend Hank Snow and for many years was the home to Bowater Mersey, a pulp and paper mill established in 1929.

The Brooklyn Marina welcomes visitors from all over the world.

Brooklyn is on Highway 3, minutes from Liverpool and is accessible by exit 18 on Highway 103.
