The Council of the Region of Queens is responsible for making key decisions regarding the Municipality. Council addresses the level and scope of provided services like water and sewer, snow removal and solid waste. Broader issues like planning, economic development and recreation are also discussed and decided upon by your Councillors and Mayor. Every year, the Municipal Budget must be passed with Councillors ultimately deciding on tax rates and service offerings – all while serving the needs of our residents and ensuring the long-term viability of the Region.

The Region of Queens and all Municipalities in Nova Scotia are required by law to abide by the Municipal Government Act; legislation that outlines the roles and responsibilities of every Municipality, and details the scope of what Council can and cannot do.
