Our Creative Culture
Queens bustles with culture every year. Home to the Astor Theatre, the Province’s oldest performing arts venue, we host a wide variety of performances year round. In every even year, Liverpool hosts the Liverpool International Theatre Festival, an adjudicated event that attracts performers from all over the globe. In odd years, the Liverpool International Ukulele Ceilidh fills the air with music as this often undervalued instrument takes centre stage.
The Winds of Change Dramatic Society performs regularly and has an impressive line-up of musical talent gracing the stage, the Astor is the cultural hotspot in this end of Nova Scotia.
Liverpool is also home the Hank Snow Tribute. This annual celebration (third weekend in August) of Hank Snow’s music returned to Liverpool in 2013 after spending several years outside the County. This popular event brings in country music enthusiasts from all over and keeps everyone’s toes a-tapping the whole weekend long.
