The Department of Recreation and Healthy Communities is staffed by professionals who work with the community to create and plan recreational opportunities for residents. Year-round they plan activities and classes for people of all ages and interests, offer grants and subsidies, provide training for volunteers and offer administrative support for community groups.

Volunteer Recognition
Region of Queens Municipality encourages residents to recognize and celebrate the volunteer contributions of their friends, neighbors, and fellow citizens by nominating them through “ The Ripple Effect”, a volunteer recognition initiative.

Physical Activity Strategy
The Physical Activity Strategy has been developed to guide the Region’s efforts to encourage active and healthy living. It represents about 9 months of work and has been informed by the work of our Steering Committee consisting of seven residents, public input at several public and stakeholder meetings, and with input and financial support from the provincial Department of Communities, Culture, and Heritage. The strategy specifies goals and objectives to be accomplished from 2020 – 2025.  For a copy of the Physical Activity Strategy click here.
