Join Our Team: Policy Analyst and Strategic Initiatives Coordinator

The Region of Queens Municipality is seeking a motivated, dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as a Policy Analyst and Strategic Initiatives Coordinator.

The Policy Analyst and Strategic Initiatives Coordinator plays a key role in examining the effectiveness and relevance of existing policies and laying out the groundwork for new programs and legislation to meet the objectives and goals of Region of Queens Municipality.  The Coordinator provides research, analysis and recommendations on matters of policy and strategy for all departments at Region of Queens Municipality as well as reviews existing policies and drafts new policies as necessary. 

The Policy Analyst and Strategic Initiatives Coordinator contributes to strategic and operational planning, reporting, trend monitoring and engagement with public service members and participates in the development of Region of Queens Municipality’s performance management framework from a governance perspective.

About You:

  • You are a highly motivated individual with the ability to foster strong relationships with internal and external contributors and adheres to high standards of confidentiality
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an in-depth understanding of local municipal government governance and administration
  • You posses well-developed critical thinking skills and have the ability to function effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment with challenging and competing priorities and deadlines

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Urban Planning, Political Science, Business or a related discipline (Masters Degree is preferred)
  • Minimum three years’ experience of relevant policy / program work experience with the Association of Municipal Administrators, Nova Scotia
  • Excellent skills related to writing policies and determining policy oversights and omissions as well as experience in writing and overseeing grant applications

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is between $66,847 and $88,406 annually. Relocation support may be available for this position.  A comprehensive job description is available here.
