Region of Queens Municipality has a number of advisory committees to help inform decision making. Many of these committees have public members. Also, Region of Queens Municipality appoints Councillors to be representatives on external committees that have a direct link to Council priorities and impacting Queens County residents. The Mayor is an ex-officio member of Committees of Council unless otherwise stated.

This page will be updated regularly to allow residents to keep current on committee assignments and vacancies.

  • Inclusion Queens
    • Applicants should have a background as a member of a marginalized community or a clear link to such, possess an open and positive mindset, be passionate about diversity and inclusion, be willing to undertake difficult discussions, understand the importance of education to reduce mistreatment of persons, and be comfortable talking about the importance of diversity and inclusion.

Committees of Council


Citizens Advisory Committee on Council Remuneration

The Citizens Advisory Committee on Council Remuneration was established by Council to provide independent advisory recommendations regarding the remuneration of the Mayor and Councillors. This Committee will meet and review Administrative Policy No. 27 – Remuneration of Mayor and Councillors, and at the conclusion of their mandate will provide Council with a report on their findings and corresponding recommendations.

The Committee has concluded it’s meetings and will present their final report to Council at its Regular Meeting on March 10, 2026 in Council Chamber.

Bursary Selection Committee

Each year, Region of Queens Municipality distributes bursaries to graduating students from North Queens Community School, Liverpool Regional High School, and Queens Adult High School. This committee reviews applications and selects recipients.

The Bursary Selection Committee meets annually, typically in late May.

Audit and Internal Control Committee

The Audit and Internal Control Committee assists Council with its fiduciary responsibilities and financial oversight of the municipality’s daily operations.  The committee ensures that the financial resources entrusted to the municipality by its residents are spent appropriately according to the policies of Council and provided for public reporting and accountability.

Meetings are held quarterly, and special meetings can be called for other issues that arise.

Planning Advisory Committee

The Planning Advisory Committee serves to advise Council regarding the preparation and amendment of planning documents and planning matters in general, as set out in Section 200 of the Municipal Government Act.

Meetings are held the 1st Monday of the Month at 6:00pm in Council Chambers.

Heritage Advisory Committee

The Heritage Advisory Committee serves to advise Council regarding designation and alterations of heritage properties and other provisions relating to the Heritage Property Act.

Meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month at 6:00pm in Council Chambers.

Fire Services Committee

The Fire Services Committee is a cooperative committee with members of Council and Queens County fire chiefs.

Meetings are held quarterly in Council Chamber. The next meeting is on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 7:00 pm.

Accessibility Advisory Committee

The purpose of Queens Accessibility Advisory Committee is to assist Municipal Council with ensuring that all parts of the Municipality’s operations include increased awareness of the barriers faced by persons with various abilities, improving access to resources for helping persons with disabilities; strengthening supports for employees and building capacity; improving access to municipal buildings and properties; improving availability of accessible washrooms and workspaces; enhancing accessibility for persons who are visually or hearing impaired; and ensuring that the recruitment, hiring and career development processes of the Municipality are accessible.

Meetings are held on the third Monday of the month. The next meeting is on Monday, April 20, 2026.

Inclusion Queens

The purpose of Inclusion Queens Committee is to provide Municipal Council with strong impactful advice, education, and recommendations for programs and services, while designing and implementing positive and supportive opportunities to promote and celebrate our diverse community to ensure that inclusion is achieved for all.

Meetings are held the second Thursday of the month at 6:30pm in Council Chamber.

Police Advisory Board

The Region of Queens Police Advisory Board provides civilian governance on issues relating to law enforcement, maintaining law and order, and crime prevention in the municipality. The Board provides direction, organization, and policy required to maintain an adequate, effective, and efficient police department, while ensuring that community needs and values are reflected in policing priorities, objectives, goals, programs, and strategies. Municipal Council approved the Police Advisory Board’s Terms of Reference in July 2023. 

The Police Advisory Board meets quarterly. The next meeting is on Thursday, May 21, at 3:00 pm in Council Chamber.

Pool Committee

The Region of Queens Pool Committee is an advisory committee established by Council to provide informed, non-partisan recommendations on the planning, design, location, programs, and long-term operation of a new aquatic facility for Queens County. The Committee reviews current and future aquatic needs, consults with stakeholders and the public, and applies a community-focused lens to accessibility, functionality, safety, and sustainability. Working collaboratively with municipal staff and project professionals, the Committee supports Council and the Chief Administrative Officer by offering research-based advice to ensure the new pool reflects efficient design, multiple uses, and inclusive access for residents and visitors, while prioritizing the overall well-being of the community throughout the project lifecycle. Committee members shall serve for the duration of the Committee’s mandate, with terms expiring upon its conclusion.
