Region of Queens Municipality’s Department of Infrastructure is currently seeking applications from a detail-oriented and dynamic individual interested in joining our team in the position of Heavy Equipment Operator II – Excavator Operator – 3 Month Term.
The position of Heavy Equipment Operator II – Excavator Operation – 3 Month Term is responsible for safely and effectively operating equipment or tools, including manual labour as directed. This position works jointly with division employees to execute work plans for the installation, operation and maintenance of municipal infrastructure.
Heavy Equipment Operator II – Excavator Operator – 3 Month Term includes operating loaders, backhoe, excavator, bulldozer, and other equipment requiring a Class 3 Nova Scotia Driver’s License. Including operation under Nova Scotia Condition 15 Endorsement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Controlling and maneuvering heavy equipment using hand and foot pedals or levers individually and simultaneously
- Maintaining equipment by providing routine maintenance and checks pre and post-trip
- Recognizing and demonstrating multiple modes of communication to work safely and effectively with team members
- Operating tampers, saws or other hydro-carbon or electric-powered tools and equipment
- Utilizing shovels, rakes, picks, bars or other hand-held implements
- Working from a ladder other complex spaces
- Completing hazard assessments with work groups
- Providing work records or completing equipment inspection as required
Qualifications:
- High-school diploma or equivalent
- Class 3 NS Drivers License with Condition 15 Endorsement
- Heavy Equipment competency as employer determined
