The Region of Queens Municipality is seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Casual Assistant Cook.
The Casual Assistant Cook is a valued member of the collaborative team and contributes to the provision of exceptional mealtime experiences for our residents through the provision of delicious and well-balanced meals at Hillsview Acres.
The Casual Assistant Cook, within their combined education preparation and workplace experience, is responsible for performing a variety of functions for our residents and guests including recipe reviews, food preparation, food service, clean-up, inventory control, and other assigned tasks. They maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation and production in the food preparation and service areas. The Casual Assistant Cook works under the direction of the Director of Resident Care.
About You:
- You have the ability to perform all assigned duties within a flexible work schedule required for a 24-hour day, 7-day week operation
- Available for call in shifts on short notice
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- You work within an environment which can change at any moment and be prepared to adapt to these situations in a respectful and understanding manner
- You are an active listener; you have great monitoring and organizational skills and have the ability to multitask
- Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks, lift, squat, bend, stand and walk as required to perform the duties of the position
- Demonstrated regular attendance
- Class 5 Drivers License
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Food Safety Course or willingness to obtain
- Cooking experience within a Long-Term Care setting is an asset; cooking for large groups (not line cook)

Compensation:
The hourly wage for this position is $22.47.
