Citizens Advisory Committee on Council Remuneration

The Citizens Advisory Committee on Council Remuneration was established by Council to provide independent advisory recommendations regarding the remuneration of the Mayor and Councillors. This Committee will meet and review Administrative Policy No. 27 – Remuneration of Mayor and Councillors, and at the conclusion of their mandate will provide Council with a report on their findings and corresponding recommendations.

Community members with experience in areas such as governance, legislation or regulatory compliance, public policy, finance, and public administration were invited to apply. Committee members were selected by staff representing a range of roles and responsibilities within the organization. Applicants were evaluated using a scoring matrix based on five established criteria to ensure a fair, consistent, and merit-based selection process.

In the interest of transparency, it is important to note that although this Committee serves in an advisory capacity to Council, neither Members of Council nor the Chief Administrative Officer participated in the selection of Committee members or the Committee’s deliberations. The Committee will present its final report and recommendations to Council at the Regular Council Meeting scheduled for March 10, 2026.
