Region of Queens Municipality is seeking a motivated, dependable and community-minded person to join our team as a Solid Waste Facility Operator.
The Solid Waste Facility Operator works with team members to safely manage incoming waste streams by inspecting, receiving, directing, and treating them according to the facility’s operations manual. In this role, you will perform manual labor and ensure the safe and effective operation of various tools and equipment, ranging from heavy machinery like loaders, excavators, and bulldozers to computers and other essential workplace technology.
About You:
- You are able to work independently or in a group environment to accomplish time-sensitive critical tasks
- You have demonstrated ability to safely operate heavy equipment
- You are able to spend extended periods of time walking, standing, or crouching while carrying, lifting, or applying other motor skills
- You are able to complete tasks in a noisy environment, understand direction, and adhere to workplace protocols
- You are able to sit for extended periods of time while operating machinery or driving
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Three (3) years experience in civil construction or other related field
- Heavy equipment competency
- Class 5 NS Driver’s License

Compensation:
This is an IBEW Union position at an hourly wage of $28.01 per hour.
