Region of Queens Municipality is seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to
join our team as a Part Time Assistant Cook (Non-Journeyman).
The Part Time Assistant Cook (Non-Journeyman) is a valued member of the collaborative team
and contributes to production of high-quality food in a sanitary environment at Hillsview Acres.
The Part Time Assistant Cook (Non-Journeyman) assists in the ordering and receiving of food
and other dietary supplies; assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents,
visitors and other staff members. All duties are performed in the best interest of the residents
and their families, in accordance with Hillsview Acres’ vision, mission and values statements
and with the Nova Scotia Long Term Care Legislation. The Part Time Assistant Cook (Non-
Journeyman) works under the direction of the Director of Resident Care.

About You:
 * You have the ability to perform all assigned duties within a flexible work schedule
required for a 24-hour day, 7-day week operation
 * Available for call in shifts on short notice
 * You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
 * You work within an environment which can change at any moment and be prepared to
adapt to these situations in a respectful and understanding manner
 * You are an active listener; you have great monitoring and organizational skills and have
the ability to multitask
 * Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks, lift, squat, bend, stand and walk as required
to perform the duties of the position
 * Demonstrated regular attendance
 * Class 5 Drivers License

Qualifications:
 * High School Diploma
 * Food Safety Course or willingness to obtain
 * Cooking experience within a Long-Term Care setting is an asset; cooking for large
groups (not line cook)

Compensation:
The hourly wage for this position is $22.47 as per the Collective Agreement. A comprehensive
