Expression of Interest: Temporary Capital Project Workers
Fall 2026 Civil Construction Project
Region of Queens Municipality is seeking expressions of interest from qualified individuals for temporary capital project work on a civil construction project scheduled for fall 2026. Opportunities are expected to include heavy equipment operators and construction labourers to support the work.
Positions of Interest
- Heavy Equipment Operators: Experience operating rollers, excavators, wheel loaders, tandem dump trucks, and related civil construction equipment.
- Labourers: Experience with pipe laying trench work, groundwork, site preparation, material handling, and general civil construction duties.
Typical Duties
- Operate equipment safely and efficiently in support of civil construction activities.
- Assist with excavation, backfilling, compaction, grading, pipe installation, and surface restoration.
- Perform manual labour, traffic control support, site clean-up, and material placement as required.
- Complete daily equipment checks and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Follow direction from supervisors and project representatives.
- Comply with applicable occupational health and safety requirements, safe work practices, and municipal policies.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
- Ability to work safely around heavy equipment, open excavations, and active construction sites.
- Valid driver’s licence; appropriate equipment certifications or endorsements are considered an asset.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Availability for temporary work during the fall 2026 construction season, with work schedules dependent on project needs, weather, and funding approvals.
