The Operations Attendant is responsible for assisting with on-site operations and maintenance services. This includes custodial services, operating and maintaining equipment, stocking supplies, maintaining ice in the rink, and cleaning and ensuring safety of equipment of facilities and more. This position reports to the Operations Manager.

If you have a high school diploma, a driver’s license, a basic understanding of facility maintenance, occupational health and safety, and have or are working toward a Refrigeration Plant Operator 2 Ticket, this might be the job for you! If you already have Emergency First Aid and WHIMIS that would be an added bonus.

Region of Queens offers a comprehensive benefits package including health and dental coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.  This position is Salary Range 11, which is currently $46,645.91 to $57,786.37.  Salary within that range will be determined based on qualifications.

Hillsview Acres Home for Special Care, a residential care facility, is currently seeking a casual Maintenance Worker to join our team. A current up to date Criminal Record Check is required.

Reporting to the Administrator, the maintenance person is responsible for ensuring that the facility is in good repair, that maintenance issues are addressed in a timely fashion, and that lawns and gardens are maintained. The maintenance person will perform the responsibilities of the position and ensure compliance with all applicable local, provincial, and federal regulations.

The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and resident safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of heating, lighting, plumbing and electrical services, kitchen and laundry equipment.
  • Maintain furniture, doors, locks and windows.
  • Maintenance of lawns, gardens and grounds.
  • Snow removal from walkways, decking and doorways.
  • Perform painting and all general maintenance.
  • Maintain records log.
  • Rake and remove litter and garbage.
  • Operate and maintain equipment.
  • On call availability is required.

Skills and Experience:

  1.  Grade 12 or equivalent
  2. Demonstrated communication, both oral and written and interpersonal skills
  3. Demonstrated organization and problem solving skills
  4. At least 1 year of maintenance experience
  5. Strong computer skills is an asset
  6. Ability to maintain equipment, such as mowers, compressors, generators, air conditioners, laundry and kitchen equipment.
  7. Physically capable to lift, transfer and move furniture and heavy objects, i.e. snow shovelling, receiving and stocking supplies.
  8. Must have the ability to work flexible hours in relation to service requirements.

Rate: $ 21.07 per hour as per CUPE local 4719 collective agreement

Fitness certifications not required. This individual’s primary functions will include; interacting with members, maintaining the cleanliness of the fitness centre, and providing general information to users about the facility and fitness centre programs and services.

Region of Queens Municipality's Engineering & Public Works Department is seeking a Senior Tradesperson- Water Utility / Wastewater Operator to join our team.


About the Role:
The position of Water Utility / Wastewater Operator is a hands-on position involving the operation and maintenance of the Region of Queen’s water utility and wastewater infrastructure consisting of the South Queens Water Treatment Facility, South Queens Wastewater Treatment Facility, North Queens Wastewater Treatment Facility and Septage Receiving Station.
The incumbent will be responsible, under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Engineering, for the effective and efficient operation of the above mentioned facilities in accordance with their respective operation manuals and the Approvals to Operate.

Certification:
The successful applicant must possess one or more the following levels of Operator Certification recognized and registered with the Nova Scotia Department of Environment:
