Hillsview Acres Home for Special Care is currently seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team. Up to date Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector Checks are required.

The Licensed Practical Nurse will provide care for residents at Hillsview Acres Home for Special Care, including, but not limited to; medication administration, health assessment, leadership duties, nursing planning and intervention, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, personal care, assistance with activities of daily living, assistance with meals, mobilization, support, documentation and all other duties as outlined in the LPN job description. The LPN will demonstrate professionalism and adhere to Hillsview Acres policies and procedures.

Hours per week, rate of pay, and job responsibilities will be discussed prior to hiring.

Qualifications:
1. Graduate of a recognized LPN program
2. Maintains ongoing active practicing licensure with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Nova Scotia (CLPNNS)
3. Experience and interest working with the elderly and commitment to resident centred care philosophy.
4. Physically able to perform the duties of the position.
5. Ability to do shift work including 12, 8, and 4 hour shifts on days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
6. Alzheimer’s and Related Dementia Care course
7. Current first aid and CPR or willingness to obtain.
8. Excellent communication skills with residents, families and other team members. Ability and confidence to take a leadership role.
9. Demonstrated competency using computers including internet, email and Microsoft office.
10. Regular attendance in current and previous employment.

Rate: as per CUPE local 4719 collective agreement

Hillsview Acres Home for Special Care is a residential care facility located in Middlefield, Queens County. Hillsview Acres provides care to adults and seniors whose needs are addressed through qualified care, dietary services and recreational programing within a clean safe environment. The involvement of families, staff and volunteers contributes to the mission of meeting the needs of all residents of Hillsview Acres.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the immediate Supervisor, the Environmental Service Worker is responsible for housekeeping resident rooms, bathrooms, dining areas, hallways etc. and must adhere to infection control practices.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Housekeeping and/or environmental work experience
• Long-Term care experience is considered an asset
• Ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position
• Initiative and ability to work independently and problem solve
• Demonstrated effective communication skills, verbal and written
• Ability to report to work on short notice
• Reliable and dependable with demonstrated regular attendance

Compensation: $16.61 / hour

Qualifications:

• Experience working in long-term care is considered an asset
• Current student or graduate of a recognized Continuing Care Assistant Program is considered an asset
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
• Demonstrated effective communication skills, verbal and written
• On the job training will be provided
• Physically able to perform duties of the position
• Ability to work on short notice for day, evening and night shifts 7 days per week
• Reliable and dependable with demonstrated regular attendance
• Demonstrated passion in working with residents with a focus on resident centered care

Compensation: $17.14 – $18.87 / hour
