Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead meaningful and lasting changes in physical activity levels of the community
  • Facilitate the development and support of community-based physical activity initiatives, focusing on integrating unstructured physical activity into daily life
  • Collaborate with local organizations, schools and collaborators to promote inclusive physical activity opportunities, especially for low-active and equity-deserving populations
  • Provide guidance and resources to community groups for developing sustainable programs that encourage an active lifestyle and reduce sedentary behavior
  • Monitor the effectiveness of community programs and assist in identifying strategic areas for improvement and innovation
  • Work interdepartmentally within the municipality to advance capital projects and programs that support unstructured physical activity

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Kinesiology, Recreation Management or a related field
  • Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills
  • Previous experience in developing and managing strategic partnerships and initiatives that support positive change in communities
  • A passion for wellbeing, healthy populations and community engagement
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
