Public Notice: Park Maintenance at Pine Grove Park, April 28 & 29, 2022
April 28, 2022: On April 28 and 29, 2022, Municipal staff will be onsite at Pine Grove Park in Milton, to conduct regular maintenance to the park and trails. The Anniversary trail (the riverside trail that connects the Trestle Trail to Pine Grove Park) will be resurfaced. The trail in Pine Grove Park that loops around the pond will have fallen and dead trees removed. Signage will be in place advising of the work sites, and at times, some sections of trails may be closed temporarily for short periods of time, or rerouted. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Flags at Half Mast: National Day of Mourning
April 28 is National Day of Mourning in Canada, and is dedicated to remembering those who have lost their lives, suffered injury or illness on the job, or experienced a work-related tragedy. In observance of this day, flags will fly today at half mast on the Administration Building and at Queens Place Emera Centre.
Special Purpose Flag Pole: National Volunteer Week is April 24 – 30, 2022
April 24-30, 2022 is National Volunteer Week in Canada, a time to celebrate the volunteers who make our communities stronger. The theme this year is “Volunteering Is Empathy In Action: Volunteers Bring Heart To Canada’s Communities”, a reminder of the compassion volunteers show for fellow residents through their volunteer efforts. Region of Queens Municipality will fly the Volunteer flag through to May 5, 2022 on the Special Purpose Flag Pole, which is located at Town hall Arts & Cultural Centre, 219 Main St., Liverpool. Notice: Parking Lot Maintenance at Pine Grove Park, Milton
April 20, 2022: Please note that the parking lot at Pine Grove Park in Milton will be closed this morning for approximately 2 hours while the parking lot undergoes regular maintenance/grading of the lot. This is expected to continue until about 10:30 a.m. During the parking lot closure, Pine Grove Park may be accessed on foot using the Anniversary Trail, which branches off the Trestle Trail near the Trestle Bridge in Liverpool. We apologize for any inconvenience caused while this necessary work takes place.
Flags at Half mast – April 18 & 19, 2022
April 18, 2022: Flags at the Region of Queens Municipality’s Administration Building and Queens Place Emera Centre will be flown at half mast on April 18 and April 19 to honour and remember the lives of the 22 people and an unborn child who were killed in the mass shooting on these dates two years ago.
Western Regional Housing Authority – Request for Applications
Request for Applications – Western Regional Housing Authority (2 Queens County Members) Region of Queens Municipality is seeking expressions of interest from community members who might be interested in serving our community on the Western Regional Housing Authority Board of Directors. Representatives provide oversight of applications for affordable housing in Nova Scotia Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing properties, as well as suggesting rental subsidies for low-income families in need. Public Notice: Water Disruption, Central Blvd., Liverpool
April 11, 2022, 9:00 a.m.: Municipal staff are working to repair a water main break on Central Blvd. in Liverpool. The repair is expected to take most of the day today. Residents in the area near Central Ave. may experience discoloured or a loss of water; if this occurs, run the cold water tap to clear the discolouration. We thank you for your patience as staff work to resolve the issue.
Spring Clean-up
This year’s SPRING CLEAN-UP COLLECTION will be held during the weeks of April 18 to April 22, 2022 and April 25 to April 29, 2022 on your regular collection day. Generally, items acceptable for pick-up are over-sized items and items not regularly collected on your regular collection day. These items shall not exceed 150 lbs. in weight or 6 feet in length. Items that will NOT be collected are Leaf and Yard Waste, Household Hazardous Waste, Building Demolition Waste, Tires, Propane Tanks and Electronics (Computers and TVs, etc.).
