issued on Monday, August 17, 2026: A project to increase pedestrian safety will be beginning soon at the corner of Legion and Main Street, Liverpool, and the construction area has been staged for the upcoming work with fencing and concrete barricades. The Legion Street Pedestrian Upgrades project will continue through to early September, weather and site conditions permitting. This project is intended to improve pedestrian safety, accessibility, and comfort by upgrading a well-travelled pedestrian crossing. The Region of Queens Municipality is seeking community members to join the Accessibility Advisory Committee. We’re looking for individuals who have lived experience as a person with a disability, or a strong connection to someone who does, and who are passionate about improving accessibility in our community. Committee members should be open-minded, willing to engage in meaningful discussions, understand the importance of education in reducing discrimination, and be comfortable advocating for accessibility. Grant Disclosure 2023 – 2024 fiscal Year
Each year near the beginning of the new fiscal year, Region of Queens Municipality compiles and posts a list of grants provided to Queens County based organizations during the previous fiscal year. In the 2025 – 2026 fiscal year, $1,433,668.79 was approved in grant funding to local organizations. New: Section of College Street, Liverpool to Become One-Way
Starting Wednesday, July 15, 2026, the section of College Street between Waterloo Street and Barss Street will become a one-way street. Vehicle access will be from Waterloo Street or by making a right turn from Barss Street onto College Street. The section of College Street between Pleasant Avenue and Shore Road will remain two-way for vehicle traffic. Pedestrian and active transportation access will continue to be available in both directions along the entire street.
