We want to hear from you! Region of Queens Municipality is developing the space for the new library’s temporary location at the Liverpool Business Development Centre. Whether you are a library user or not, your input is an important part of the design process. Participation was encouraged in-person and virtually via Zoom on June 22,25,26,27 and 29th, and attendance was 45 people. Speed Radar Signs

Speed radar signs will soon be implemented around Queens County by the Region of Queens Municipality. The purpose of these signs is to collect data on the speed habits around Queens County and inform drivers of their current speed to help promote safer driving. The Engineering & Public Works Department is accepting requests on where you would like to see these implemented, and why. Grant Disclosure 2023 – 2024 fiscal Year

Each year during the month of May, Region of Queens Municipality compiles and posts a list of grants provided to Queens County based organizations during the previous fiscal year. In the 2023 – 2024 fiscal year, $408,815.63 was approved in grant funding to local organizations. Council is proud to support organizations in Queens, and feels it is important to invest in the local community, and by doing so, our community is enriched. Expanded Electronics Recycling Program for Small Appliances

May 21, 2024: Effective June 1, 2024, the Expanded Electronics Recycling Program for Small Appliances begins as approved and regulated by the province of Nova Scotia and EPRA.  Small appliances included in this program are also banned from landfills across Nova Scotia as of June 1, 2024. The list of accepted items is on the graphic below; they can be taken to any EPRA electronics recycling depot (there are two in Queens County, noted in the chart at the top of this page). Upcoming construction: Weir lane Rehabilitation Project To Begin May 13, 2024

May 10, 2024; Liverpool, NS:  Since amalgamation in 1996, the Region of Queens Municipality has invested over $100 million in capital upgrades to infrastructure throughout Queens County. These upgrades have improved environmental conditions, provided safe streets, sidewalks, and drinking water, as well as quality recreational facilities. This work will continue in 2024, starting with infrastructure upgrades on Weir Lane. The Weir Lane Rehabilitation Project will begin on Monday, May 13, 2024. This project continues work started in 2022 on Main Street and will replace deteriorated sewer and water mains, as well as install new storm drainage, and asphalt street surface. …

Update: Status of Milton Centennial Pool

 May 1, 2024:  The Milton Centennial Pool suffered significant damage in the unprecedented rainfall and flash flooding events in July 2023. As a result, the pool was closed to assess the damage and make repairs. Unfortunately, repair work was not able to be completed in the Fall of 2023 and when staff uncovered the pool in April 2024, additional damage had occurred over the winter months. At the April 16, 2024 Special Council Meeting, the condition of the Milton Centennial Pool was discussed with Council. Region of Queens Municipality Approves 2024-2025 Budget

April 29, 2023; Liverpool, NS: Following several months of budget planning and deliberations, the annual Operating, Water Utility, and Capital Budgets for Region of Queens Municipality were unanimously approved at the April 29, 2024 Special Council meeting. The budget was approved with no increase to the previous year’s tax rate. Operating Budget total is $29.8 million, including Hillsview Acres. Funding in Place for Outdoor Pool in Queens County

April 29, 2024; Liverpool, NS:  Big things result from collaborations.
