Upcoming construction: Weir lane Rehabilitation Project To Begin May 13, 2024
May 10, 2024; Liverpool, NS: Since amalgamation in 1996, the Region of Queens Municipality has invested over $100 million in capital upgrades to infrastructure throughout Queens County. These upgrades have improved environmental conditions, provided safe streets, sidewalks, and drinking water, as well as quality recreational facilities. This work will continue in 2024, starting with infrastructure upgrades on Weir Lane. The Weir Lane Rehabilitation Project will begin on Monday, May 13, 2024. This project continues work started in 2022 on Main Street and will replace deteriorated sewer and water mains, as well as install new storm drainage, and asphalt street surface. …

Update: Status of Milton Centennial Pool
May 1, 2024: The Milton Centennial Pool suffered significant damage in the unprecedented rainfall and flash flooding events in July 2023. As a result, the pool was closed to assess the damage and make repairs. Unfortunately, repair work was not able to be completed in the Fall of 2023 and when staff uncovered the pool in April 2024, additional damage had occurred over the winter months. At the April 16, 2024 Special Council Meeting, the condition of the Milton Centennial Pool was discussed with Council. Region of Queens Municipality Approves 2024-2025 Budget
April 29, 2023; Liverpool, NS: Following several months of budget planning and deliberations, the annual Operating, Water Utility, and Capital Budgets for Region of Queens Municipality were unanimously approved at the April 29, 2024 Special Council meeting. The budget was approved with no increase to the previous year’s tax rate. Operating Budget total is $29.8 million, including Hillsview Acres. Funding in Place for Outdoor Pool in Queens County
April 29, 2024; Liverpool, NS: Big things result from collaborations. Provincial funding in the amount of $2.2 million was announced on Friday, April 26 to support an outdoor pool project initiated by the commitment of a large private donation, and funding from Region of Queens Municipality. The $7.2 million outdoor pool project is planned to be built on the grounds of Queens Place Emera Centre, in Brooklyn, Queens County as a replacement for the 57-year-old Milton Centennial Pool. RCMP Queens Detachment: Temporary Change in Location of Counter Service
The Queens District RCMP Detachment at 20 Shore Rd. in Liverpool will be temporarily closed for front counter services due to an interior renovation. The closure will begin on April 24 and is expected to last six to nine months. They ask that the public not attend the Queens District RCMP Detachment in Liverpool during this time. May will soon be here! The start of the growing season is a critical time for hungry, newly emerged native bees. Flowers may be hard to find, especially in urban and suburban landscapes. By allowing grass to grow longer and letting flowers bloom, lawns can provide nectar and pollen to help our bee neighbors thrive. Mowing less creates habitat and may increase the abundance and diversity of wildlife including bees and other pollinators. Province Announces Funding to Upgrade and Extend Water and Wastewater Service in Queens County
April 15, 2025; Liverpool, NS: Water and wastewater services in Queens County will see upgrades and extensions as the result of a $21.5 million dollar investment, cost shared by Nova Scotia’s Municipal Growth Plan and Region of Queens Municipality. The Province’s contribution is $10.7 million, and $10.8 million is to be funded by Region of Queens Municipality.
