Region of Queens Municipality

  • Public Notice: Please Dispose of Sharps Safely

January 27, 2023: During waste collection this week, a large number of sharps (used needles), were discovered in bags placed curbside for collection.

Region of Queens Municipality has properly disposed of the sharps, and would like to remind residents that there are procedures to follow to safely dispose of sharps. Sharps are not permitted to be placed curbside for disposal. Placing them in regular household waste creates a hazard for other people, pets, and wildlife in terms of safety and as a biohazard.

How to Safely Dispose of Used Sharps:

Used sharps (syringes, needles, and lancets) can be harmful if they are not handled and disposed of properly. Through the Safe Sharps program, Nova Scotians can access a proper container for disposing of sharp needles in a safe manner, at no cost. Once the container is full, it can be returned to the local pharmacy.

    • DO NOT put needles, syringes, or lancets into plastic bottles or jugs,
    • DO NOT put needles, syringes, or lancets in Garbage or recycling bags,
    • DO NOT flush needles, syringes, or lancets down the toilet,
    • DO NOT burn them.

The Safe Sharps Program is free of charge, funded by Nova Scotia’s pharmacies, sharps manufactures and medical distributors. For more information contact: Divert Nova Scotia at 1(877) 313-7732, your community pharmacy, or the Canadian Diabetes Association.

  • Message from Mayor Norman Regarding Vandalism at Visitor Information Centre in Liverpool

A short time ago, I was notified of vandalism at the Visitor Information Centre in Liverpool. Vandalism, including damaged windows and spray painted hateful words targeting 2SLGBTQ+ communities, was very upsetting to say the least. This was an act of hatred. Sadly, these actions cause hurt to our communities and 2SLGBTQ+ people as a whole far beyond the cost of paint and glass.

Queens County prides itself in being safe and open to all residents, and Region of Queens Municipality has prioritized Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility in its work as a government and service provider.

As your Mayor, I personally condemn these actions and believe there is no place for this type of hatred and ignorance in our County. I will always stand for equal treatment of 2SLGBTQ+ people, and I am confident that people from all over Queens County do too.

Queens RCMP have been advised of this vandalism and are investigating.

    Sincerely,
    Mayor Darlene Norman

  • ** Update: Water Utility Disruption now Repaired

** UPDATE: Dec. 30, 2022, 7:45 p.m.: The water disruption that occurred earlier today, December 30th, in Brooklyn and parts of Liverpool has been repaired.

Utility customers may continue to experience discoloured water for a period of time- running your cold water tap for a few minutes typically resolves this. If your water is still not clear, wait and trying running your tap again a few hours later. Customers may also have lower than normal pressure- cleaning your faucet aerators can typically resolve this.

Should you still be having issues after exhausting the above, it is recommended to contact a licensed plumber.

As a result, Henry Hensey Dr will be closed to West bound traffic near Town Bridge. Loss of water pressure and discoloured water may be experienced by all users on the municipal system.

Pursuing an educational degree is undeniably fulfilling, but delving into the intricacies of research papers can be quite challenging. Personally, as a student, I frequently explore various services for support, and one resource that consistently proves invaluable is a specific platform. This resource ghostwriter-hausarbeit.com serves as a guiding light in navigating the complexities of academic research and writing. Incorporating it into my academic routine has not only refined my papers but has also deepened my understanding of the nuances involved. I highly recommend integrating this resource to enhance your educational journey.

Exiting on to Main Street from McLeod is not permitted. This change is necessary to accommodate the narrow lane width on McLeod and enhance motorist and pedestrian safety on McLeod Street.
