Message from Mayor Norman Regarding Vandalism at Visitor Information Centre in Liverpool
A short time ago, I was notified of vandalism at the Visitor Information Centre in Liverpool. Vandalism, including damaged windows and spray painted hateful words targeting 2SLGBTQ+ communities, was very upsetting to say the least. This was an act of hatred. Sadly, these actions cause hurt to our communities and 2SLGBTQ+ people as a whole far beyond the cost of paint and glass.
Queens County prides itself in being safe and open to all residents, and Region of Queens Municipality has prioritized Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility in its work as a government and service provider.
As your Mayor, I personally condemn these actions and believe there is no place for this type of hatred and ignorance in our County. I will always stand for equal treatment of 2SLGBTQ+ people, and I am confident that people from all over Queens County do too.
Queens RCMP have been advised of this vandalism and are investigating.
Sincerely,
Mayor Darlene Norman
