REGION OF QUEENS MUNICIPALITY NOTICE OF PASSING IN THE MATTER OF the MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT ACT being Chapter 18 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1998. TAKE NOTICE THAT on August 8, 2023, Council of Region of Queens Municipality adopted a Bylaw respecting amendments to Region of Queens Land Use By-law. The amendments saw: Amending the Zoning Map to change the zoning of PID#’s 70027982, 70040423, 70017983 and 70028477 to Multiple Unit Residential (RM). An aggrieved person may appeal the decision of Council, within fourteen (14) days of the publication of this notice, to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board….
Special Purpose Flagpole: Emancipation Day, August 1
In observance of Emancipation Day, Region of Queens Municipality is flying the Pan African Flag on the Special Purpose Flagpole at Town Hall Arts & Cultural Centre, 219 Main St., Liverpool, on August 1. Emancipation Day marks the end of slavery in many British colonies. The Slavery Abolition Act of 1834 ended slavery in the British Empire on August 1, 1834. The first colony to have anti-slavery legislation was Upper Canada, modern day Ontario with the Act Against Slavery 1793. July 24, 2023; 1:21 p.m.: The North Queens Aquatic Center in Caledonia will be opening today for public swim from 2:30 -4:00 p.m., and will be open for public swims Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m, and Friday from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. Admission to Public Swim is free of charge this week only. Swim lesson registration for the next session of lessons at North Queens Aquatic Centre will be held July 25 and 26th at the Aquatic Centre. July 26, 2023: Nova Scotians can now apply for disaster financial assistance related to damage from flooding. The program covers up to $200,000 in uninsurable losses per household, small business and not-for-profit organization. Applications are available: Online: https://beta.novascotia.ca/disaster-financial-assistance (click the link) Access Nova Scotia centres MLA offices Residents are asked to continue to assess damage, keep all receipts and take pictures and video, as well as work with their insurance companies. Notice: Traffic Disruptions
To facilitate manhole inspections and data collection. Manhole inspections and data collection will be starting Monday, July 24th, 2023 and continuing through the Summer in Liverpool. As our Engineering Students, Josh Elliott and Dominic Losier conduct this important work there will be minor traffic disruptions. Work will begin in the southwest portion of Liverpool (Milton) and move westward toward Liverpool Harbour.

Special Purpose Flag Pole: July 9 – 15, 2023 is South Shore Pride Week
From July 7 – 15, 2023, Region of Queens Municipality is flying the Progress Pride flag on the Special Purpose flag pole at Town Hall Arts & Cultural Centre, 219 Main St., Liverpool, NS, in honour of South Shore Pride Week, taking place July 9 -15 in Lunenburg County, organized by Lunenburg PRIDE. The Progress Pride Flag represents 2SLGBTQ+ communities while highlighting 2SLGBTQ+ racial diversity and transgender individuals. There are events planned throughout the week throughout Lunenburg County, and the week kicks off with a Pride parade on July 7 in Bridgewater.
