Not only during Veterans’ Week, but all year long, the Region of Queens Municipality is honoured to allow those with a Veterans’ license plate to park for free at parking meters, as per Bylaw 9- Parking Meters. October 16, 2025: Throughout recent dry conditions, Liverpool Fire Department was offering to fill dry wells for local residents. Based on the voluntary water conservation directive, Region of Queens Municipality has asked Liverpool Fire Department to stop providing that service as the water for well filling comes from Region of Queens Water Utility. The Utility supplies water to customers in Liverpool and Brooklyn. The Municipality is organizing options for people to get potable and non potable water, as well as shower access. October 9, 2025; Liverpool, NS:  A celebratory feeling was in the air as Region of Queens Municipality unveiled the three newest inductees on the Olympic Wall at Queens Place Emera Centre on October 9, 2025.  Region of Queens Mayor Scott Christian was joined by two-time Olympian and two-time competitor at the Pan American Games Lisa Ross, and  Mike Greek with Special Olympics Nova Scotia, to announce the newest inductees on the Olympic Wall.   Rebecca Delaney and Jillian Young competed in the 2025 World Special Olympic Games in Turin, Italy. October 7, 2025: There are new traffic control lights located in the construction area of Waterloo Street, Liverpool.  These lights will remain in place while construction is ongoing. As construction areas change, the lights may shift locations slightly. There is sensor detection to avoid the need for long stops when there is no oncoming vehicle. Staff are monitoring the timing to allow for slow passage, and there may be some adjustments to the timing, as needed. Update: Woods Travel Ban Lifted.  Fire Ban to Continue September 19, 2025: Nova Scotia’s Minister of Natural Resources has amended the woods travel proclamation to re-open wooded lands, parks and trails across Nova Scotia, effective 4 p.m., September 18, 2025.  The woods travel proclamation will remain in force for Annapolis County, where the Long Lake wildfire is ongoing.
