IN THE MATTER OF AN APPLICATION by the REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY OF QUEENS, on behalf of its Water Utility, for approval of amendment to its Schedule of Rates and Charges for Water and Water Services and amendments to its schedule of Rules and Regulations. to present evidence or cross-examine witnesses. Your request must be received by the Board by
Friday, August 22, 2025, and a copy of your written evidence by Wednesday, September 17,
2025.
Additional information about the matter is as follows: - For unmetered customers, the current quarterly water bill is $96.43, and it is proposed to increase
to $200.53 (a 108% increase) in 2025/26; $206.98 (a 3.2% increase) in 2026/27; and $213.26 (a
3.0% increase) in 2027/28. - For residential customers (5/8” meters), the current average quarterly water bill is $82.61, and it
is proposed to increase to $169.66 (a 105.4% increase) in 2025/26; $174.63 (a 2.9% increase) in
2026/27; and $177.39 (a 1.6% increase) in 2027/28. - For all other metered services, the Utility is requesting amendments ranging from 107.5% to
119.5% in 2025/26; 0.2% to 4.0% in 2026/27; and 2.8% to 4.3% in 2027/28. - The annual fire protection charge paid by the Municipality, currently $201,531, is proposed to
increase to $401,599 (a 99.3% increase) for 2025/26, $495,931 (a 23.5% increase) for 2026/27
and $503,625 (a 1.6% increase) for 2027/28.
Upon reviewing the Application, the Board, in its Decision, may determine that the proposed
amendments should be as requested, higher, or lower.
