  • Public Notice: Water and sewer rehabilitation project to begin June 27

June 24, 2022:  Region of Queens Municipality continues to invest in maintaining municipal infrastructure, and one of this year’s capital projects is the Church Street Rehabilitation project, which will begin on Monday, June 27.  The public is advised that the section of Church Street, Liverpool, from Court Street to Jubilee Street, will be closed to public traffic beginning on Monday, June 27, 2022. This section of Church Street will remain closed to all but local traffic and emergency vehicles for rehabilitation of water and sewer infrastructure until work is completed. Signage will be in place, and detour routes will be marked.

Much of the water and sewer infrastructure in Liverpool is 100 years old.  This project is a continuation of the work that took place in Summer 2021 on Court Street, and in 2020 on Park Street, and will connect to these projects. The public is advised to expect some delays when traveling in this area.

The patience and understanding of the public is appreciated during the construction period.

  • New! Welcoming and Inclusive Steps at Visitor Centre in Liverpool

Queens wants to show that everyone is welcome.

June, as Pride Month in Canada, is a great time to action some recommendations of the Diversity and Inclusion Action Team (DIAT). The Progress Pride flag on the Liverpool Visitor information Centre stair risers represents a range of marginalised people, adding people of colour and trans people to the LGBTQ2S+ rainbow. There is much to learn from various perspectives.

Sometimes, helping people to feel included and “seen” in their communities can be as simple as a coat of paint!
