NEW! Pedestrian Crossing Signals in Liverpool

Region of Queens Municipality has completed installation and commissioning of Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons crossing signals (RRFBs) at two locations in Liverpool:

  • Main Street & Legion Street
  • Main Street & Gorham Street

These pedestrian-activated flashing lights are designed to improve visibility and help motorists recognize when someone is waiting to cross or crossing the street.

A reminder for pedestrians and motorists:

  • Pedestrians: Press the activation button before crossing. Wait for vehicles to stop, look both ways, and ensure it is safe before entering the roadway.
  • Motorists: When the beacons are flashing, stop and yield to pedestrians at the crosswalk. Do not pass a vehicle stopped for a pedestrian.

Under Nova Scotia’s Traffic Safety Act, motorists are required to yield to pedestrians at crosswalks. Pedestrians also have a responsibility to use pedestrian-activated crossings properly.

These upgrades are another step toward making Liverpool’s streets safer and more accessible for everyone.
