Public Notice: Fire at Region of Queens Municipality’s Solid Waste Management Facility

Liverpool, NS; July 12, 2024:  Earlier this morning, volunteer fire departments from Liverpool, Greenfield, and north Queens were called to Region of Queens Municipality’s Solid Waste Management Facility on Highway 8, Milton for a fire in the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).  The fire is now extinguished. The fire was contained to the MRF. 

A staff member spotted a small fire early this morning near the sorting line and reported it.  All staff in the building were safely evacuated.

Region of Queens Municipality is thankful to the volunteer fire fighters for their swift action and hard work in the heat to put the fire out.
