Canadian classic rock stars Honeymoon Suite were formed by lead vocalist and guitarist Johnnie Dee in 1981. In 1983 the band was bolstered by the addition of Derry Grehan who quickly became the bands primary song writer and who soon after penned ‘New Girl Now’. On the strength of that single the band signed a deal with WEA Canada and soon after came the launch of the bands self-titled debut album in June 1984. From that album came hits such as re-mastered ‘New Girl Now’, ‘Burning in Love’, ‘Wave Babies’ and ‘Stay in the Light’. Next came The Big Prize, and hits such as ‘Bad Attitude’, ‘Feel it Again’, and ‘All Along You Knew’. A number of these songs became included in soundtracks for series shows, and movies. Through the late 1980’s, songs such as ‘Love Changes Everything’ and ‘Still Loving You’ hit the singles charts. Their extensive catalogue of music and recognizable hits, energetic stage presence and sizzling musical execution continues to shine through as the band entertains fans from across the world.
From 1977 to 1980, Teaze recorded and released 4 studio albums plus one live album based on their tour of Japan in 1978, and even played with April Wine at the old arena in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. After a 40 year hiatus, they are back! On April 6, 2019, Teaze reunited to play in their hometown of Windsor, Ontario for a benefit concert, meeting with huge success. Their catalogue includes timeless hits such as; ‘Sweet Misery’, ‘Gonna Have a Good Time Tonight’, ‘Boys Night Out’ and ‘On the Loose’ to name a few. TEAZE will head east to Liverpool NS for an exclusive comeback show, certain to lead to years of entertaining the world again going forward!
Matt Minglewood Band are a musical hybrid, a four member band with one foot steeped in the musical roots of blues and country and the other knee deep in rock. Matt Minglewood himself has long been known as a musical shape-shifter, with such well known hits as ‘Amsterdam, ‘Dorchester’, and ‘Can’t You See’. Their high-octane show has earned them the well-deserved reputation of ‘down to earth bearers of good will and good times’. Their diversity and broad audience appeal has made them a favorite on the Canadian touring circuit. In a climate ripe with ever changing musical styles, Matt’s artistic character has been defined by his simply remaining true to himself.

April 10, 2019; Liverpool, NS: Region of Queens Municipality is entering into a partnership agreement with Autism Nova Scotia for a future inclusive playground to be built on Municipal lands in Liverpool, NS. The playground, unique in Southwestern Nova Scotia and the province, will feature inclusive play equipment and structures that supports use by all children and adults.
“We are pleased to enter into this agreement with Autism Nova Scotia, and are proud that Queens County will be home to this wonderful asset which will give families of all abilities many fun experiences that they may not have had in the past,” said David Dagley, Mayor of Region of Queens Municipality. “Not only is the inclusive playground a benefit to local families, it is something that families from all around Nova Scotia will come to visit and enjoy.”
The proposed agreement resulted from discussions around a motion of Council approved on February 27, 2018, and rescinded on April 9, 2019, in which Region of Queens Council agreed to donate the land and a maximum of $25,000, and enter a renewable partnership agreement for a period of 5 years with Autism Nova Scotia to manage construction and ongoing maintenance of the playground. Under the provisions of the proposed partnership agreement, Autism Nova Scotia will prepare the design of the playground, and determine the suppliers of the equipment, as well as work with the local Queens County fundraising committee to raise the funds needed. Once funds have been raised, and the plans and equipment have also been approved by both partners, the Municipality will manage the project through to completion, own, and maintain the playground as an additional infrastructure asset of the Municipality.
“We deeply appreciate the partnership of the Region of Queens, as well as the tremendous vision and dedication of the many volunteers and supporters who have come together to create this inclusive outdoor recreation space for people of all ages and all abilities,” said Debbie Wamboldt, chairperson of Queens Universally Designed Playground’s fundraising committee and board member of Autism Nova Scotia’s South Shore Chapter.
The projected cost of the inclusive playground is approximately $450,000, with the local fundraising committee working towards reaching that goal through community and corporate fundraising efforts. The playground project will not proceed until sufficient fundraising is in place. One of the conditions of the proposed agreement allows Autism Nova Scotia up to two years to source the required funds. In the event that the funds are not raised in two years, the partnership agreement would terminate. Under the proposed agreement, the local fundraising committee will be eligible to apply for Region of Queens’ new Community Investment Fund grant program, and therefore the previously committed $25,000 is not included in the 2019-2020 budget, and not in the proposed agreement.
Council approved the 2019/2020 Budget on March 26, 2019.
