December 9, 2022: Recently, a large number of sharps (used needles), were found at Pine Grove Park, Milton. Region of Queens Municipality reminds park users to remain on the trails when using the park, and to be aware of your surroundings. The Municipality has properly disposed of the sharps, and would like to take this opportunity to remind the public of safe ways to dispose of used sharps, and that disposing of them in other ways puts other people, pets, and wildlife at risk of injury. Public notice: Temporary Partial Street Closures: Liverpool re: Parade on Nov. 27, 2022

November 24, 2022: On Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 6 pm until approximately 7:30 pm there will be street closures in effect for the Liverpool Firefighters Annual Christmas Parade. The parade route begins on Queens Place Drive, progressing along Bristol Avenue to Henry Hensey Dr., and will conclude at Liverpool Fire Hall at the corner of Main St. and Henry Hensey Dr. The streets will reopen at the conclusion of the parade. Motorists traveling in the area are advised to expect delays and plan their route accordingly.

Flags at Half Mast: National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

On December 6, 2022, flags at Queens Place Emera Centre and Region of Queens Municipality’s Administration building will be flown at half mast in observance of National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. It’s been 33 years since the mass shooting in which 14 young women were killed and 13 other people were injured at École Polytechnique in Montreal. An armed man separated the women from the men in a classroom and murdered them because they were women. Special Purpose Flag Pole: Transgender Awareness Week, Nov. 13 – 19, 2022

November 14, 2022:  From November 14 to November 20, 2022, Region of Queens Municipality flies the Transgender Flag on the Special Purpose flag pole at Town Hall Arts & Cultural Centre, 219 Main St. Liverpool, NS to mark Transgender Awareness Week. Transgender Awareness Week is to raise awareness about transgender and gender non-conforming people through education and advocacy activities. The week ends with Transgender Day of Remembrance to memorialize victims of transphobic violence.
