NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING & AREA RATE VOTE

REGION OF QUEENS MUNICIPALITY

NOTICE IS GIVEN to the Rate Payers of Tax Districts 5 & 6 (Brooklyn) concerning the renewal of two Community Area Rates:

  1. Brooklyn Recreation Committee: Renewal of area rate at 4¢ per $100 of assessment.
  2. Brooklyn Cemetery Committee: Renewal of area rate at 1.5¢ per $100 of assessment.

PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING

DATE & TIME: Wednesday, February 11, 2026 – 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM

LOCATION: Brooklyn Community Hall, 3960 Nova Scotia Trunk 3, Brooklyn, NS

The applicants will be given an opportunity to present their request and answer questions from the public. The Councillor chairing the meeting will also be available to answer questions as they relate to the Municipality.

VOTING DAY

DATE & TIME: Friday, February 13, 2026 – 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM

LOCATION: Brooklyn Community Hall, 3960 Nova Scotia Trunk 3, Brooklyn, NS

VOTING ELEGIBILITY: Voting is restricted to Rate Payers of Tax Districts 5 & 6.

  • You must be an owner of taxable property within Tax District 5 or 6 (Brooklyn) and be eligible to vote in Municipal Elections.
  • Please bring photo ID.
  • No proxy voting is allowed.

PLEASE NOTE: Tax Districts are not the same as Electoral Districts in Region of Queens Municipality. These Area Rates are for Tax Districts 5 & 6 (Brooklyn) only. If you do not see these Area Rates on your tax bill, this notice does not apply to you.
