Air Quality Resources
To monitor air quality in communities in Queens and other areas of Nova Scotia you may be visiting, the Purple Air website is a helpful tool. The map is in real time reading sensors citizens across the province have in place – to use it simply zoom in on Nova Scotia and look for a location, or use the search bar on the upper right corner of the map page for the location you are seeking:
Click on the map marker to see the data from the sensor in that community of current air quality health index (AQHI) ranking. Map markers with a black outline represent indoor sensors, while markers without this outline represent outdoor sensors. Sensors that are not actively reporting to the Purple Air map will appear gray.
When there is concerning air quality, Environment Canada issues an air quality statement or air quality warning. To check for current air quality statements from Environment Canada, please go to: https://weather.gc.ca/index_e.html?center=41.95592701,-96.43618458
