Grand Opening: Greenfield Community Park

YOU ARE INVITED TO THE GRAND OPENING – GREENFIELD COMMUNITY PARK

BRING YOUR OWN CHAIR IF YOU HAVE ONE AVAILABLE

Saturday, July 13, 2024.

Among the activities planned:

* ALL Day – take a WALK IN THE PARK on our walking track

* 9:00 a.m. –  GARDENING 101 – round table with Adrien Van Dyk, owner of Wile’s Lake Farm Market. Join us at the outdoor classroom for expert advice on growing your flowers and vegetables

* 10:00 a.m. – POUND DEMO – Join JoAnne Lenethen as she leads a mild Pound Demo class (with sticks) at the Bandstand. Suitable for all ages from either a seated or standing position.

* 11:00 a.m. – OFFICIAL GRAND OPENING CEREMONY: GREENFIELD COMMUNITY PARK & 2 HARRYs WALKING TRAIL: – Join Peter Bessey and his guests as they officially open our park and recognize our generous donors.

* 12:00 p.m. PERFORMANCE BY MERSEY BAND at the bandstand. FREE LUNCH BBQed Hot Dogs & Hamburgers/ Water/ Cake

* 1:00 p.m. TRADITIONAL LAWN GAMES for big and little kids organized by Greenfield School Society (e.g. 3-legged race, potato sack, egg in spoon etc.)

* 1:00 p.m. LAWN GAMES SETS AVAILABLE TO SIGN OUT (Bocce Ball, Croquet, Washer Toss)

* 2:00 p.m. – COMMUNITY BASEBALL GAME Families/Seniors/Kiddos – all are welcome. Please bring your own gear if you have available. We will have some gloves on site.

* 5:30 p.m. –  HOW TO PLAY DISC GOLF Daniel and Kevin Freeman will explain and demonstrate how to play disc golf on our 9-hole course. Discs are available in the toy box for participants to use.

* 6:30-7:30 p.m. – CAMPFIRE SINGALONG AND SMORES Community musicians will lead a campfire singalong around our fire pit. Based on provincial fire regulations for the day, we will determine if fire will be wood or propane. All the ingredients and tools will be available to make smores.

– 8:00- 10:00 p.m. or later-  BAND /MUSIC “DIAMONDBACK” To finish off our day, join us at the bandstand for some musical entertainment.
