June 14, 2018; Liverpool, NS:  Walking is an excellent form of exercise,  and to encourage walking as a form of physical activity, Region of Queens Municipality will be launching the “Queens Walks” program on the first day of summer, June 21, 2018.

The program will feature a series of community-based walks, beginning with the Mayor’s walk led by Mayor David Dagley to take place on June 21, 2018 at 12:00 noon at Meadow Pond Brook walking trail in Liverpool, NS.

The “Queens Walks” program will also feature prizes for walkers who attend the events.  Residents are encouraged to walk throughout Queens County with family and friends, and send the Region of Queens Recreation and Healthy Communities Department photos of their favorite places to take a walk, so others can discover these awesome places. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., and for June 21 – 24, the two themes are “Summer Fun” and “Privateer Days”, of course.

A walk will also be led by Kejimkujik National Park Ecologist Matthew Smith, beginning at 7:00 pm at Georgie Uhlman’s property in North Brookfield on June 25, 2018.  Queens Shelburne MLA Kim Masland will lead a Lighthouse Walk in starting at Port Medway Lighthouse Park, Port Medway on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 12:00 noon. More walks are planned throughout Queens County during the program, which runs until July 21st, and they will be announced as details are finalized.
