Over the holiday season, there are a number of schule changes that residents should be aware of. Please read below for information about waste collection, hours of operation at several Municipal facilities and Christmas tree pick up. All your holiday info, all in one convenient location!

Holiday Waste Collection and Hours at Queens Solid Waste Management Facility

Holiday Waste Collection Schedule:

Christmas Day and New Year’s Day each fall on Thursdays this year. If your collection is scheduled on December 25 or January 1, collection will be on the Friday following the holiday. Please place waste curbside by 8 am.

Holiday Hours: Solid Waste Management Facility, 3750 Highway 8, Milton, NS

* Wednesday, December 24 – 8 am – 12 noon

* Thursday, December 25 – CLOSED

* Thursday, January 1 – CLOSED

Open regular hours on December 26 to 31, and January 2 (weekdays 8 am – 4 pm and Saturdays 8 am – 2 pm)

Christmas Tree Pick-Up:

Pick-up is on your regular collection day during the weeks of January 5 – 9, 2026 and January 12 – 16, 2026.

Administration Hours

The Administration Offices of Region of Queens Municipality and Administration for the Department of Infrastructure close for the holidays at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 24, 2025 and will reopen at 8:30 a.m., Friday, January 2, 2026.
