Queens County has a rich cultural and historical past. In 1755, Governor Lawrence of Nova Scotia made an arrangement with the Massachusetts Government to locate New Englanders to the South Shore. Liverpool was the only place in British North America to be settled by the descendants of the Mayflower. The first house in the new township of Liverpool was erected in 1759 by Sylvanus Cobb.
