The Department of Recreation and Community Facilities is available to assess and respond to the needs of Community Organizations and to provide training and assistance as required to meet those needs. We help with grant sourcing, grant and proposal writing, volunteer training, administrative assistance, volunteer recruitment, and more. The Department of Recreation and Community Facilities provides administrative assistance to community groups to aid with their activities, events, and fundraising efforts.

Any non-profit Community Organization in Queens County shall be eligible for the following administrative assistance:

  • One Thousand (1000) free copies per calendar year.
  • Free typing of letters and minutes for Community Organizations within reason. Responses to requests will normally be fulfilled within five (5) business days.
  • Newsletter, brochure and pamphlet design, layout and typing will be provided as time permits. New items will require up to ten (10) business days for set up and layout, while existing items can be revised within a few days.

Organizations requesting assistance shall make their detailed request in person. The Department Secretary/Receptionist will provide an approximate date of completion will obtain contact information to get in touch when the items are ready for pick up.

The Recreation Department offers assistance to Queens County non-profit groups by making various pieces of recreational equipment available for loan for events through the equipment loan program.

Items are booked on a first come first served basis. The non-profit group that has booked the equipment is responsible for its pick up, set up, and return to the Municipal Building (249 White Point Road, Liverpool). It is also the responsibility of the group to apply for any permits or insurance required based on the intended usage of the equipment.


The Recreation Department also has recreational items to lend to community groups and/or individuals from Queens County.

These items are booked on a first come first served basis. The borrower is responsible for pick up and return of the equipment to the Municipal Building (249 White Point Road, Liverpool).

Every year, our department offers financial support to individuals and organizations who work to update their skills, compete at a high level, offer programs to the community or improve their infrastructure.
