The Council of the Region of Queens Municipality has approved a tax exemption for low income residents of Queens County for the 2017/2018 fiscal year. Applicants are required to provide a copy of their 2016 Notice of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency. The application form is below in a fillable PDF form. Forms must be printed and signed and then forwarded with the appropriate documentation to:

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that pursuant to the Municipal Government Act, certain lands situate in the Region of Queens Municipality and described in general terms below are now liable to be sold at Tax Sale in the Council Chambers of the Region of Queens Municipality at 249 White Point Road, Liverpool, Nova Scotia on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 10:00 AM to recover outstanding taxes, sewer and unsightly charges plus interest as well as expenses of, and incidental to, the sale unless the same are paid in full on or before the said date and time of sale. The total amount billed must be paid by the due date to avoid interest charges. Interest is applied at a rate of 12% per annum to any outstanding taxes.

There are several ways you can pay your bill:

  1. through online banking. Most major financial institutions offer this service, however it is best to contact your bank to make sure and to enquire about how to pay this bill through them; or
  2. through telephone banking. As with online banking, you should check with your bank about availability and how to register; or
  3. at most financial institutions in Canada. Bring your bill and your payment to the teller; or
  4. by mail. You can send your cheque or money order to

  5. in person via cash, cheque, money order or debit (Interac) at our offices located at 249 White Point Road, Liverpool (see map below); or
  6. directly through your mortgage company. Contact them directly to find out how to sign up for this.
 

Property taxes in the Region of Queens are calculated by applying the applicable tax rate to every $100 in assessed property value. The assessed value is determined by an independent organization, the Property Valuation Services Corporation, a company that performs the valuation services for all properties in Nova Scotia. HST is not applicable on property taxes.
