The Municipal Planning Strategy and corresponding Land Use Bylaw were adopted in 2009 after an involved planning process that involved the public. Click here for details on the process and issues and considerations that were considered.

The Municipal Planning Strategy is a legal document, setting out the strategic policy direction for our Municipality to achieve its vision for a sustainable future. The Land Use Bylaw is a regulatory document that sets out specific planning and development requirements in order to achieve the vision.

In 2003, Council initiated a project with the goal of establishing a Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use Bylaw covering all lands within Queens. Achieving this involved the development of a planning process that would integrate all communities within the Municipality, incorporating those who had existing planning documents with those who had none. Two simultaneous planning exercises were carried out and the information gathered was consolidated into a cohesive Region-wide Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use Bylaw.
