The Region of Queens Municipality is seeking applications from well-organized, reliable and self-motivated individuals to join our team as Summer Health & Wellness Activity Programmer.

Required competencies:

  • Deliver recreational programs and activities throughout the Region of Queens Municipality
  • Promote physical activity and healthy active lifestyles
  • Assist with the development and implementation of youth summer activities & programming for all ages
  • Develop and run special events for the Region of Queens Municipality
  • Promote and advertise programming as required
  • Develop community partnerships for programming opportunities
  • Oversee the coordination of the youth Leaders In Training (LIT) program
  • Any additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Recreation & Healthy Communities

Work expectations:

  • Successful candidate must be flexible and able to work weekdays, weekends, nights & holidays on an as-needed basis.
  • Must be a post-secondary student returning to school in September 2018. Preference will be given to Recreation Management and Kinesiology students.
  • The successful applicant must have a valid driver’s license and daily access to a vehicle
  • Willing to obtain First-Aid, CPR and WHMIS.
  • Mandatory agreement to annual Criminal Records and Child Abuse Registry Checks.

Water Safety Instructors, North Queens Aquatic Centre (2 positions available)

Water Safety Instructors at the North Queens Aquatic Centre are responsible for the ongoing instruction and supervision of pool programs as well as lifeguarding at public swims and pool parties. Instructors must have good teaching and leadership skills, a good rapport with children and the public, and must be prepared to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.  The position requires a minimum of Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification (WSI) and National Lifeguard Certification (NLS), and preference will be given to applicants with Royal Lifesaving Society of Canada Instructor certification (LSI), which enables teaching Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross courses, as part of their duties.  Certification as an aqua fitness instructor and a working knowledge of pool maintenance are both assets.  These positions will begin in late June and one will conclude in mid August and the other in late August.
