Waste Management FAQ

Q: What do I do with old tires I no longer need?

A: Car and light truck tires are recyclable. You can take up to 4 tires back to any registered tire dealer or service station that sells tires. These should be accepted free of charge for recycling.

Tires with a wheel diameter greater than 24.5" or off-road tires can be disposed of at Region of Queens Waste Management Facility (Landfill).

 

Q What do I do with the left over paint?

A: Certain leftover paint products can be returned to your local Envrio-Depot for recycling.

Q: What do I do with old car batteries?

A: Car batteries, truck and lawn tractor batteries (lead acid style) can be dropped off at your local Enviro-Depot free of charge, for recycling.

 

Q: I'm planning on doing renovation to my home. Can I pile my debris by the road for pickup on garbage day?

A: No. Bi-weekly waste collection is for regular household waste only. Left over construction material can be taken to the Region of Queens Waste Management Facility (Landfill) for recycling and disposal, provided that it is properly separated. I.E. wood, metal, gyprock and asphalt (shingles).

 

Q: What are the hours at the landfill, and how do I contact you for more information?

A: Region of Queens Waste Management Facility (Landfill) is open to the general public from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Mon. - Fri. and from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m, Sat. We are closed on holidays and can be contacted at 350-1084.

 

Q. I need help in setting up a recycling program for my business/event. Is there any assistance available and if so, is there and charge?

A. The Region of Queens employs staff whose function it is to assist businesses and residents in solving waste collection issues. This service is free of charge and can be arranged by simply calling the administration office during regular office hours at 354-3455
