Recreation and Community Facilities Department

 

Aquatics Instructor Training Subsidy - New!

Purpose - To provide financial support to those Queens County residents who wish to become swim instructors and/or lifeguards.

Guidelines - Submit a copy of certificate and a copy of receipt of payment to receive a 50% subsidy for course fees. Incidental expenses are not covered (ie. travel, meals, accomodations, etc.). There is no application form. 

 

Community Recreation Grant Program

Purpose - To enable community organizations to provide community-based programs, and contribute to their sustainability.

Guidelines - The Region will fund up to $500.00 to establish new programs for a maximum of two years, or assist existing organizations to implement new programs.

 

Fitness Instructor Taining Subsidy - New!

Purpose - To provide financial support to those Queend County resident who wish to become fitness instructos.

Guidelines - Submit a copy of certificate certificate and a copy of receipt of payment to receive a 50% subsidy for course fees. Incidental expenses are not covered (ie. travel, meals, accomodations, etc.). There is no application form.

 

Recreation Facility Grant Program

 Purpose - To assist with renovating or replacing existing recreational facilities.

Category A - Regular - The Region will fund up to a maximum of 50% or $1,500.00.  Cost-shared by the community organization.

 Category B - Major - The Region will fund 50% of "major" projects, to a maximum grant of $5,000.00, for initiatives that exceed $10,000.00 in total costs.  Only two grants from this category will be awarded yearly, and groups who receive funding will be ineligible for funds from facility categories A and B for two budget years.

 

Sport Travel Program

 Purpose - To assist athletes, either individually or as part of a team, based in the Region who have earned the right to represent Queens through provincial championships, with travel to higher levels of competition.

Guidelines - Funds up to 500.00 for the above.

 

Tournament/Special Event Assistance Fund

 Purpose - To enable groups to host provincial, or higher, caliber sport tournaments and/or special events.

Guidelines - Funds up to $500.00 for the above on a one-time basis.

There is no application form for this grant.  Applicants can provide information on the event and it's costs, by letter, to the Director of Recreation and Community Facilities to initiate a request.

 

Volunteer Training Assistance Grant

 Purpose - To enable volunteers to pursue training.

 Guidelines - Provides funds for volunteers to attend training, or for groups to host training locally.
